Our requirements

• D. in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field, or a Master’s Degree plus a minimum of 10+ years of industry-based relevant research experience;

Disinformation is not a new phenomenon; however, it reached an impressive level with the growing use of social media by the population. The extraction of data from social media, the various analysis and visualization methods are essential instruments in the study of dynamics of information flows and in the understanding of the mechanisms used for creating and spreading disinformation.

 

GATE institute is looking for experienced researchers who are interested in the data extraction and analysis from social media for developing analyses tools for contents in Bulgarian language.

 

The suitable applicants for this post should have a solid background, experience and publications in the domain of information and communication technologies, preferably with a specialization in one or more of the following domains: data retrieval, artificial intelligence, natural language processing. Your responsibilities

Common

• Involved in all phases of the numerical simulations;
• Research and develop numerical simulations at different scales;

Experimental Regulation and Digital Policy Laboratory (ERPL) at GATE

The GATE Regulation Experimental and Policy Lab (ERPL) is a pioneering initiative within the GATE Institute that offers a sandbox environment for interdisciplinary development, testing of technologies, and prototyping of new legal, ethical, and policy solutions. We seek a dedicated Policy Lab Manager to lead our efforts in fostering innovation and regulatory learning.

Key Responsibilities

• Leadership and management. Lead the ERPL team in delivering innovative solutions to legal, ethics and policy issues and conducting experimental governance and policy prototyping activities. Supervise the daily operations of the lab, ensuring alignment with the lab’s strategic goals.
• Project oversight. Oversee interdisciplinary projects involving technology, law, and ethics. Ensure projects meet their objectives, are delivered on time, and adhere to legal, ethical and regulatory constraints.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

• PhD in one of the following areas:computer science, applied mathematics, software engineering, or a related technical field; Alternatively, a Master’s degree in one of these fields and at least 4 years of experience in this field in industry or academia;
• Strong knowledge of the principles, tools, and technologies for data sharing.
• Ability to collaborate and work in teams with international partners;
• Motivation for professional development and a passion for research work;
• Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to present research results (and their value);

Your responsibilities:

• Designs and develops novel algorithms and models to tackle NLP challenges;
• Collecting and curating datasets for NLP research. Implements and trains NLP models using the collected data;
• Incorporation of Deep Learning to enhance NLP tasks;
• Designs, implements and supports complex data models data in the domain of social media analysis;
• Develops solutions for extracting data from different sources: text documents, relational data bases, etc.
• Develops models which help in the analysis of social media content;
• Teaches in programs in the domain of analysis of natural language and social media contents;
• Participates in research on methods for analysis and content analysis in Bulgarian and other languages;
• Develops ontologies to present the data semantics;
• Contributes to the academic community by publishing their findings in conferences and journals;
• Keeps themselves up to date with the newest technological trends.

Requirements:

• PhD in one of the following areas: Computer Science, Natural Language Processing, Computational Linguistics or a related field. Alternatively, a Master’s degree in one of these fields and at least 4 years of experience in this field in industry or academia;
• Proven software development experience;
• Good programming skills in Python;
• Proven experience with Machine Learning (ML) frameworks and libraries such as Tensorflow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, Numpy;
