Responsibilities

  • You conduct theoretical and applied research and develop methods for data management and the legal framework for data spaces and artificial intelligence in accordance with current regulations governing data protection, management, and sharing, intellectual property, and other related areas;
  • You design and implement prototypes of testing and experimentation facilities (TEFs), laboratories for testing and prototyping new regulations (policy labs), and regulatory sandboxes;
  • Design, develop, and implement solutions that support the creation of digital policies in the fields of artificial intelligence and data spaces, aimed at ensuring a better quality of life for citizens in accordance with current regulations and applicable ethical principles;
  • Propose applications with the potential to significantly impact the realization of data spaces’ potential for the development and implementation of ethical, lawful, fair, transparent, explainable, and accountable artificial intelligence systems by using methods and algorithms to measure and assess harm and by aligning both research and applied activities with the principles of responsible research and innovation
  • Disseminate the results achieved through scientific publications;
  • Keep abreast of the latest technological trends;
  • Participate in educational programs addressing interdisciplinary, legal, ethical, and socio-technical issues related to data spaces and artificial intelligence;
  • Contribute to generating ideas for applying research findings to innovative projects;
  • Commit to continuous professional development and participate in training and knowledge-sharing events;
  • Prepare presentations to promote research findings at the national and international levels.

Our requirements

  • Recognized Researcher (R2): A doctoral degree in the social, economic, or legal sciences—law, philosophy, sociology, political science—or a master’s degree plus at least 4 years of research experience in industry;
  • Additional qualifications in the field of information technology and computer science and/or professional experience combined with a solid theoretical and practical understanding of the fundamentals of information technology, machine learning, and the socio-technical aspects of artificial intelligence
  • Excellent knowledge of developments in the field of legal requirements and ethical approaches to the creation of processes and programs for the responsible development and implementation of artificial intelligence and the lawful processing and sharing of data
  • Design and implementation of programs for compliance with regulations in the field of data protection and management, contractual aspects of data sharing, intellectual property management in research organizations, etc.
  • Programming skills in Python using at least several of the standard Data Science tools and libraries: PyTorch, TensorFlow, Keras, NumPy, SciPy, Pandas or others;
  • Interest in participating in research projects, involving a wide variety of stakeholders;
  • Good written and oral communication and presentation skills, prioritizing of tasks, motivation to discover new approaches in AI development;
  • Fluency in English;

We are looking for a motivated and highly qualified software developer/architect who thinks innovatively, takes initiative, and is ready to take a leading role in the development of the Data Space platform. The position is suitable for a specialist with 10+ years of experience, deep technical expertise, and a desire to work on innovative and challenging projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in software development and maintenance, including: designing, programming, testing, documenting, and implementing software and architectural solutions.
  • Identify technical issues and provide effective solutions.
  • Ensuring the quality and security of the developed software solutions.
  • Monitoring industry trends and applying modern technologies or approaches.
  • Analyzing potential improvements in software solutions during development or after its completion.
  • Participating in meetings to clarify requirements.
  • Assigning tasks and ensuring that deadlines are met.

Skills, Experience, and Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in one of the following fields: engineering, computer science, mathematics, information technology, or telecommunications and computer engineering;
  • Proven experience (10+ years) in the development and implementation of complex software systems based on Angular, Spring Boot, and cloud-based architectures
  • In-depth knowledge of Angular (TypeScript) for developing modern, scalable frontend applications
  • Excellent command of Spring Boot / Spring Framework (Spring Security, Spring Data, Spring Cloud)
  • Proven experience with cloud infrastructure: Kubernetes, Docker
  • Experience with designing and implementing REST APIs and distributed systems
  • Knowledge in the areas of Data Governance, metadata management, and privacy policies
  • Leadership skills and ability to mentor technical teams

  • Researches and analyses the landscape of innovative approaches that could significantly contribute to the scientific goals of GATE in the field of advanced data analytics, applied to the four application domains at GATE: Digital Health, Future Cities, Intelligent Government and Smart Industry;
  • Adapts current machine learning research to high consequence real world applications and integrate solutions into practical tool chains;
  • Pursues independent (but complementary) research interests and interact with a broad spectrum of scientists internal and external to the Institute;

  • Experienced researcher (R2): Ph.D. in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field, or a master’s degree plus a minimum of 7 years of experience in research within the industry;;
  • Established researcher(R3): Ph.D. in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field, or a master’s degree plus a minimum of 7 years of experience in research within the industry;
