The GATE Institute is seeking to appoint Researchers in 3D City Modeling, Analysis and Simulation who will be involved in the GATE City Digital Twin project. It is a large interdisciplinary flagship project aiming to develop a digital twin platform for designing, testing, applying and servicing the entire lifecycle of the built environment. An ultimate goal of the projects is to go beyond digital replicas and visualizations to explore the full potential of integrating data from all stages of urban development and thus push the applications of urban modelling, simulation, analysis and visualization.

Data spaces are a highly innovative area that is gaining increasing popularity at both the European and regional levels as a key element of the future data-driven economy. Data spaces provide an environment that facilitates secure and trusted data exchange between participants and offer a comprehensive framework encompassing the technological, business, and organizational aspects of this exchange. The researchers will be involved in an international project in collaboration with two of the most prestigious research institutes in Europe: Norway’s SINTEF Institute and Ireland’s INSIGHT Institute. The project’s aim is to build a knowledge transfer framework between the partners and develop a visionary scientific strategy to enhance research capacity in the field of data space interoperability. The project’s outcomes will be applied to drive innovations in areas of significant social and economic importance.

The GATE Institute – Big Data for a Smart Society – is the first high-tech research and innovation center in the field of Big Data and Artificial Intelligence in Bulgaria and Eastern Europe. Established in 2019 as part of Sofia University in partnership with Chalmers University of Technology and Chalmers Industrial Technologies (Sweden), GATE collaborates with leading European initiatives such as AI Sweden, AI Research Centre and Digital Twin Cities.
The institute’s mission is to build a unique environment for game-changing research and innovation in areas such as Big Data and Artificial Intelligence. GATE aims to become a global digital hub, applying innovation to solve real-world problems in key areas such as Future Cities, Digital Health, Smart Industry and Smart Government.
