Experienced Researcher (Level 2)(R2)

Disinformation NLP&ML

 

 

Your responsibilities:

  • Designs and develops novel algorithms and models to tackle NLP challenges;
  • Collecting and curating datasets for NLP research. Implements and trains NLP models using the collected data;
  • Incorporation of Deep Learning to enhance NLP tasks;
  • Designs, implements and supports complex data models data in the domain of social media analysis;
  • Develops solutions for extracting data from different sources: text documents, relational data bases, etc.
  • Develops models which help in the analysis of social media content;
  • Teaches in programs in the domain of analysis of natural language and social media contents;
  • Participates in research on methods for analysis and content analysis in Bulgarian and other languages;
  • Develops ontologies to present the data semantics;
  • Contributes to the academic community by publishing their findings in conferences and journals;
  • Keeps themselves up to date with the newest technological trends.

Requirements:

  • PhD in one of the following areas: Computer Science, Natural Language Processing, Computational Linguistics or a related field. Alternatively, a Master’s degree in one of these fields and at least 4 years of experience in this field in industry or academia;
  • Proven software development experience;
  • Good programming skills in Python;
  • Proven experience with Machine Learning (ML) frameworks and libraries such as Tensorflow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, Numpy;
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and work on many activities;
  • Interests in working on interdisciplinary research projects involving participants from different organizations and nationalities;
  • Good written and oral communication and presentation skills, prioritizing of tasks, motivation to discover new approaches in AI development;
  • Fluency in English;

 

Advantages will be:

  • Experience with (or interest to learn) to use cloud platforms for model development and model’s deployment such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure;
  • Experience with (or interest to learn) to use one or more of the following: Jupyter Notebook, Google Colab, and GitHub/GitLab;
  • Experience in one or more of the following: automatic fact-checking, disinformation detection, text classification, named entity recognition, large language models, emotions detection/sentiment analysis;
  • Experience with ML models testing and improvement;
  • Academic and other results demonstrated in the form of scientific publications and/or public repositories such as GitHub/Zenodo;

  • Initiating proposals for the conclusion, modification and termination of employment contracts of the administrative, technical and research staff of the Institute.

  • Preparing an annual report on the Institute’s activities and submitting it to the Governing Board for approval.

Responsibilities

 

  • Ensuring the processes for searching and attracting companies to test their products within the DIANA accelerator.
  • Identify technologies and manufacturers that can participate in the DIANA Accelerator and establish communication with them.
  • Determine the tasks and resources needed to implement the testing activities.
  • Participation in the preparation of business plans, budgets and other documents for project implementation.
  • Analyzing the progress of the test activities and taking measures to correct deviations.
  • Arranging business negotiations with NATO and interested companies.
  • Preparation of periodic reports and maintenance of information databases.

 

Education and Experience Required

 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in management, logistics or other related field. Knowledge and experience in international relations will be an advantage;
  • At least 3 years of professional experience in a similar position.

 

Required Expertise

 

  • Additional specialization in planning, management and reporting of projects with European and national public funding is an advantage;
  • Excellent oral and written English language skills;
  • Proficiency in MS Office;
