GATE Institute presented its scientific achievements for the benefit of people and their health care at the Work Shop: a 360-degree laboratory for personalised medicine and related multidisciplinary approaches.
The event, organised by the Biotechnology and Health Cluster, Artificial Intelligence Cluster Bulgaria, European Health Institute, NCM under Horizon Europe of the Ministry of Education and Science, took place on March 11 at TU – Sofia. It is the first in the series, with key topics such as personalised medicine and the 5P model, artificial intelligence (AI), data governance and cybersecurity, green transition, regulations and innovation in the sector on the agenda.
The implementation of such projects is essential in building an innovation ecosystem related to the future of medicine and healthcare, as a result of close cooperation between academia, business and researchers, both at national and European level.
Georgi Petkov from GATE’s Digital Health Domain highlighted the huge potential in using technology and data sharing for early detection and prevention of various diseases, and gave a concrete example of the real- time epileptic seizure detection and response system developed by the institute, which is currently being tested on five patients at an epilepsy clinic in the Netherlands.
