The event, organised by the Regional Information Centre – Varna, attracted over 200 attendees. Among the official guests were Commissioner Maria Gabriel, MEP Emil Radev, Deputy Prime Minister Tomislav Donchev, Chairman of the Management Board of the Fund of Funds Martin Danovski, Deputy Minister of Education and Science Karina Angelieva. The event was attended also by deputies, representatives of the central and local authorities, academia, non-governmental organizations, students and business representatives.

The certificate acknowledges the achievements of Sofia University and especially of the GATE team within the Horizon 2020 programme. It was personally handed over by the Deputy Minister of Education and Science Karina Angelieva to prof. Sylvia Ilieva, coordinator of GATE project and prof. Anastas Gerdjikov, Rector of Sofia University.

“The certificate is a great honour for us, especially at the beginning of our project. GATE aims to create a European eco-system, where to bridge the scientific community and industry. This certificate acknowledges that we are moving in the right direction to enhance Bulgaria’s international prestige in the European Research Area”, said prof. Silvia Ilieva.
