The project is funded by the Ministry of Education and Science through the national programme “European Research Networks”. The project coordinator is the Bulgarian University of Library Studies and Information Technology and the other Bulgarian partner along with the GATE Institute is the Defence Institute “Professor Tsvetan Lazarov”.

CyberTwin will concentrate its activities mostly in the research area of protection of digital information which is the main research area of the Computer Security and Industrial Cryptography (Imec-Cosic) group at KUL. The targeted application areas are advanced cybersecurity solutions to protect data in the cloud and in the Internet of Things (IoT) and protection of the privacy of users in the context of different use-cases for smart city applications, which is the strongest area of the capacity of the University Cluster “Safety, Security, Defense, Disaster Recovery and Management” at FPM.

The project also envisages innovation management and web entrepreneurship twinning activities and regional Smart specialisation support activities.
