GATE had the honor of welcoming His Excellency Mr. Hisashi Michigami, Ambassador of Japan to Bulgaria, for a strategic discussion on expanding academic collaboration and business partnerships.
During the meeting, GATE’s Director, Prof. Sylvia Ilieva, introduced the institute’s research and development initiatives in artificial intelligence, big data, and digital transformation. She emphasized the importance of fostering stronger academic ties, particularly through GATE’s ongoing collaboration with the University of Tsukuba’s Center for Computational Sciences. This partnership has already resulted in a series of joint seminars, workshops, and knowledge-exchange programs, paving the way for further innovation-driven research.
A key highlight of the discussion was GATE’s upcoming participation in the Bulgarian Pavilion at Expo 2025 in Osaka. The ambassador expressed keen interest in the institute’s contributions and potential collaborations with Japanese academic and business institutions during the event. Both parties agreed on the importance of leveraging Expo 2025 as a platform to showcase technological advancements and establish new partnerships.
Beyond academia, the conversation extended to industry collaboration. The discussion underlined the significance of interdisciplinary cooperation in advancing research and commercializing innovative solutions.
