What is the role of technologies in recognizing disinformation in the media and social networks, especially on issues related to the CORONA virus pandemic? Who spreads misinformation and why, and how to protect ourselves from fake news? These were the main topics in the programme “Direct” on Bulgaria OnAir TV on December 3, 2021 with the participation of Prof. Silvia Ilieva, director of the GATE Institute and Dr. Irina Temnikova, researcher at the Institute.
Prof. Ilieva and Dr. Temnikova spoke about the activities of the Institute in the field of detecting disinformation highlighting the opportunities provided by the use of big data and artificial intelligence for this purpose.
They have also noted that the topic of using technologies to detect disinformation in the media and social networks will be thoroughly discussed at the annual GATE forum on Big Data and Artificial Intelligence, which will be held on December 8, 2021 at 14.00 (EET) and on 9 December 2021, from 10.00 (EET) online.
