Contract research is carried out in commercial R&D projects for developing new technologies. The projects, including any results and IP, are funded and owned by a GATE member or another stakeholder and are carried out jointly with the GATE Institute. GATE also offers on a consultancy basis projects for developing Big Data business value.
The purpose of contract projects is to create new business opportunities by developing and implementing new technologies and facilitating technology transfer from GATE to its member companies and as appropriate, to other organisations. The projects, including any results and IP, are funded and owned by the member organisations and companies and are carried out jointly with GATE’s staff. Besides projects for commercial R&D, GATE also offers to its members on a consultancy basis, projects for developing the business value of Big Data and innovation workshops. The projects are modelled on the commercial R&D of CIT, where GATE’s staff may join in selected projects for purposes of training. As soon as there is interest, projects are initiated with Bulgarian members and stakeholders, to build a base for commercial R&D in Sofia.
